Compute

A virtual server is a computer with its own operating system, carved out of a powerful physical host’s CPU, memory and disk. A VPS is the same idea under another name; at Nesnet the difference is that your server isn’t tied to one machine. On shared hosting you never see the operating system, and with a physical server the repairs and spare machines are yours when it breaks.

Migration follows a plan: an inventory comes first, a non-critical system moves as a pilot, and the main cutover happens in a window you choose. Servers can be uploaded as OVA or moved while running with migration tooling. Downtime depends on the size of the system and the route chosen, and the rollback step is written before the cutover.

Buying a card means a server to carry it, cooling, driver upkeep and GPU licensing, and it's a large upfront investment before usage is known. With GPU Servers each profile has a fixed charge, plus the server's vCPU, memory and disk, and every item shows separately on the invoice. Nesnet's team prepares the actual figures for your workload.

The display protocol tunes picture quality and compression to the network's speed and latency, so it works over home connections too. High-resolution video or multiple monitors need more bandwidth. That's why setup starts with a pilot group and settings are tuned to real use.

Moves follow a plan: an inventory comes first, a non-critical system is migrated as a pilot, and the real cutover happens in a window you choose. How long a system is offline depends on its size and the migration route. Servers from another virtualisation environment can be uploaded as OVA files, or running servers can be moved with migration tools.

No, the hardware isn't reserved, and it's worth knowing that up front. What's yours is a CPU, memory and storage quota, your own gateway and your tenant boundary; users from other organisations can't see your objects, and your traffic goes through your own gateway. If you need physically dedicated hardware, Nesnet can install the same platform in your own data centre.
